Nazaha Niyaz exemplifies that one does not need to be advanced in age to possess exceptional expertise in the realm of human resources. At present, serving as an assistant human resource manager at Dhivehi Insurance, Nazaha commenced her professional journey immediately after completing her O Level Exams, undertaking an internship in the administrative department at Kinder Preschool. Driven by her immense passion for human resources, she aspired to enhance her knowledge and skills, prompting her to enroll in Avid College to pursue a Diploma. Simultaneously, she continued to work in the industry, diligently balancing her responsibilities.
Subsequently, Nazaha successfully obtained both a Degree and a Masters in Human Resource Management, all while gaining practical experience in various organizations. Her professional endeavors have led her to serve in esteemed institutions such as Ghiyasuddin International School, Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure, Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure, Maldives Airports Company Limited, and Coral Island Resorts Maldives Pvt Ltd, all within the domain of the Human Resource Department.
As one of the primary concerns for Human Resource professionals is the prevalence of job hopping among the younger generation, we interviewed Nazaha to understand her perspective on the reasons behind this trend and why she herself had to frequently change jobs. According to Nazaha, the field of Human Resources encompasses much more than just hiring and firing employees, which unfortunately remains the main focus for many HR staff in organizations. Consequently, she had to switch jobs in search of a perfect fit, where she would have the opportunity to fully engage in HR activities, particularly in Human Resource development. She expressed her appreciation for Dhivehi Insurance, which entrusted her with the autonomy to excel in Human Resources. Regarding the job hopping behavior among the younger generation, Nazaha believes that most students are uncertain about the specific career path they wish to pursue upon completing their education. Consequently, they explore various job opportunities in order to find the one that aligns with their interests and aspirations. Additionally, she emphasized that the younger generation tends to have higher expectations for the type of work they want to engage in, unlike their older counterparts. Nazaha further stated that she believes this issue could be effectively addressed through comprehensive career guidance, both during and after their school education.
In conclusion, Nazaha encourages the younger generation to delve into their aspirations within the job market. She places significant emphasis on the value of pursuing a career that resonates with one’s passion, as she firmly believes that it will enable individuals to truly excel in their inherent talents and enhance their personal growth within the industry. Additionally, Nazaha underlines the utmost importance of continuous education. She firmly advocates for the perpetual revisiting of knowledge acquired and an unwavering commitment to ongoing learning, as she herself perceives every day as an opportunity for learning and self-improvement.
