The Indian Ocean Divers Association (IODA) Hall was officially launched during the 10th edition of the Maldives Marine Expo, held at Central Park Hulhumale. The inauguration ceremony was graced by Mayor Adam Azim, alongside some of the region’s most prominent divers, including Prahlad Kakar, Anees Adenwala, and Sendi Hussain Rasheed.

During his inaugural address, Prahlad Kakar emphasized the significance of establishing IODA, stating that it will play a pivotal role in enhancing the region’s scuba diving industry. Sendi Hussain Rasheed added that a collaborative effort between Maldives, India, and Sri Lanka could greatly foster this initiative, ensuring its long-term success.

Mayor Azim underscored the critical need for environmental protection and called for increased efforts toward conservation. Suraj Khan, the Secretary General of IODA, noted that this event marks the initial step in introducing and connecting with the industry. He also announced that the next event will be scheduled to take place in Sri Lanka, signaling a promising future for regional collaboration in the diving sector.
