MMPRC Heads Towards a New Era in Marketing with Inaugural Tourism Symposium 2024 by Visit Maldives

On October 22, 2024, the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) took a bold step forward by hosting its first-ever ‘Tourism Symposium 2024’ at the scenic Crossroads Maldives. This event kicked off a fresh approach to promoting the Maldives as a global tourist destination, bringing together key industry figures to shape the future of tourism.

MMPRC CEO & MD, Ibrahim Shiuree, opened the event by emphasizing the need for innovation and teamwork to keep the Maldives at the top of travelers’ lists: “By embracing new ideas and working together, we can build a stronger and more diverse tourism sector. Let’s continue creating unforgettable experiences for every visitor.”

Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal shared his vision for the future, urging the industry to stay adaptable: “To keep our tourism thriving, we need to tackle new challenges and stay ahead of evolving trends.” His message focused on sustainability and finding smart, innovative ways to move forward.

MMPRC Chairperson Abdulla Giyas Riyaz echoed this collaborative spirit, encouraging everyone to work together to elevate the Maldives: “Together, we can create something truly remarkable where the Maldives leads and inspires travelers worldwide.”

A Gathering of Industry Leaders

The symposium brought together a wide range of experts, from policymakers to key industry players, to discuss essential topics like sustainability, diversification, and health and safety. A panel discussion, led by MMPRC’s Deputy MD Zihuny Rasheed, featured high-level officials including the Minister of State for Tourism, Munim Anees, and Minister of State for Health, Khadeeja Abdul Samad Abdulla. The panelists provided valuable insights on how to build a resilient and thriving tourism industry for the future.

MICE Tourism and New Opportunities

The event also showcased the Maldives’ potential as a hub for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism.
