Bahauddeen Looks Back to his Journey Worth Two Decades in the Hospitality Industry

With a career crossing over two decades in the Hospitality Industry, Bahauddeen is a seasoned professional who embarked on this journey upon graduating from Hotel Schools in the year 2000, and later completed high education in Hospitality Management. Over the years, Bahauddeen has dedicated his expertise to the luxury resort segment, where he has not only witnessed the evolution of the industry but actively contributed to its transformation. His journey commenced as a Butler and steadily progressed through various roles, eventually leading him to the position of Director of Rooms at Soneva Gili, later rebranded as Gili Lankanfushi after HLP assumed ownership of the resort. During his tenure, he became immersed in the intricate world of high-end hospitality, gaining invaluable insights and honing his skills in delivering unparalleled guest experiences, while TripAdvisor ranked Gili Lankanfishi as World’s Best Resort in 2015.

In 2018, a new chapter unfolded for Bahau, as he joined the pre-opening team of Kudadoo Maldives Private Island, assuming the role of Resort Manager. Kudadoo’s unique concept, encapsulated by its concept “Anything, Anytime, Anywhere (AAA),” has set it apart in the industry. The resort has garnered prestigious awards and earned the Forbes 5-star rating, solidifying its status and reputation as a beacon of excellence in the Maldives. Early January 2023, and Bahau find himself at Hurawalhi Island Resort, a captivating destination renowned for housing the world’s largest undersea restaurant, 5.8. As the Resort Manager, he was privileged to contribute to the success of this extraordinary property, where innovation and luxury converge to create unforgettable experiences.

Bahau’s journey reflects a commitment to excellence, a passion for hospitality, and a dedication to crafting moments that transcend the ordinary. He therefore looks forward to continuing this voyage, leaving an indelible mark on the world of luxury hospitality. For him embarking on a career in management was a natural progression driven by a confluence of passion, determination, and a desire to contribute significantly to the evolving landscape of the hospitality industry. Therefore, he recommends implementing proactive recruitment strategies, such as partnering with hospitality schools, offering training programs, and utilizing online platforms. Furthermore, he suggested developing internal training initiatives to bridge skill gaps and cultivate a culture of continuous learning within the organization. He believes the expanding industry is not met with a proportional increase in the availability of hospitality-trained professionals in the country.
