Raisham Waheed serves as the Human Resources Manager for the breathtakingly stunning Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru & Dhawa Ihuru. With nearly ten years of experience, he embarked on his professional journey in the aviation industry in 2012 and transitioned into the tourism sector in 2021, where he continues to dedicate his expertise and efforts.
When asked regarding the role of local talent in tourism industry, Raisham highlighted the presence of numerous skilled individuals from the Maldives working in Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru & Dhawa Ihuru. He specifically pointed out that young local talents predominantly occupy the senior positions in many departments. However, he expressed concerns about the difficulty in finding local talents for the F&B Production department or kitchen workers. According to him, this challenge arises due to the lack of educational institutions focusing on this particular field. Furthermore, he mentioned that a few locals who have had the opportunity to study abroad already hold higher positions, but their numbers are insufficient. To underscore the resort’s commitment to hiring locals, he mentioned that they provide training and grooming opportunities for young individuals, enabling them to rise to leadership positions. Therefore, employing locals is deemed the most suitable choice for these positions.
In conclusion, Raisham offered valuable advice to the younger generation, emphasizing that pursuing a career in their passion-driven industry can lead to remarkable growth and achievement. He particularly highlighted the plethora of opportunities available in this field, underscoring the immense potential for success. However, Raisham cautioned against the desire to jump straight to the pinnacle of one’s career. Instead, he stressed the importance of starting from the ground up and gradually working towards reaching the pinnacle. Furthermore, he highlighted the abundance of local opportunities, including internships, within the resort that can be explored and leveraged for personal and professional growth.
