Nurturing Careers: A Glimpse into Angsana Velavaru

In the ever-evolving world of HR and the tourism industry, career growth and development of employees have become key elements for success. While exploring the intricate dynamics of HR, we had the privilege of conversing with Mr. Ameeg Ismail, Human Resouce Manager at the illustrious Angsana Velavaru resort. The insights he shared regarding their approach to employee development were not just enlightening but also reflective of a nurturing and progressive ethos.

Angsana Velavaru operates under a philosophy that places a high value on its internal talent. When a position becomes vacant, the first priority is given to internal employees. This internal mobility approach not only motivates employees to strive for excellence but also rewards their dedication by offering opportunities for career advancement. “I always believe in developing young talent in different areas of the Hospitality Industry believing that the younger generation should be the ones to take up the mantle and carry forward this rich, diverse, and globalized industry with a mindset to serve,” Ameeg said.

One noteworthy initiative that stands out is the opportunity for employees to apply for roles in other departments after completing a year in their current position. This internal job rotation opportunity encourages cross-functional learning and growth, providing employees with a broader understanding of the resort’s operations. It’s a remarkable strategy that not only empowers individuals but also contributes to the resort’s overall efficiency.

Angsana Velavaru goes a step further by offering training opportunities in their sister properties. Currently, two of their talented team members, a Housekeeping Supervisor and a Front Office Resort Host are in Vietnam for a comprehensive training and development course. This international exposure not only enhances their skills but also broadens their horizons, which is invaluable in a dynamic industry like hospitality.

Additionally, the resort chain has its own training hub, the Banyan Management Academy, which is located in Phuket, Thailand. This in-house training center is dedicated to providing employees with the skills and knowledge necessary for career progression. It’s a testament to the resort’s commitment to nurturing talent from within.

In conclusion, Angsana Velavaru has set a commendable example in HR by fostering a culture of internal promotions, job rotation, and extensive training opportunities. They recognize that the growth of their employees directly contributes to the success and sustainability of the resort. This commitment to employee development not only makes Angsana Velavaru a standout destination but also a place where careers truly flourish. We extend our gratitude to Mr. Ameeg Ismail for sharing these exceptional insights.

The approach of Angsana Velavaru serves as an inspiring case study for HR professionals in the tourism and hospitality industry, highlighting the immense benefits of prioritizing employee growth and development. As our industry continues to evolve, it is businesses like Angsana Velavaru that lead the way in creating opportunities and nurturing careers.
